The general objective of TANGO-LIFE is to improve the inclusion and quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities, mental disorders and other fragilities through sport/dance as a holistic approach promoting physical, emotional and social well-being. The specific objective of the project is to improve the well-being of 60 persons with intellectual disabilities, mental disorders and other fragilities in the target communities by developing and implementing 1 innovative inclusion model based on tango, which has useful implications within the target population by improving physical and mental health outcomes. The model that TANGO-LIFE intends to create will contribute to the dissemination of the use of tango as an innovative rehabilitation therapy with useful implications for the health and psycho-physical well-being of its recipients. The Kick-off Meeting of the european project Tango-Life, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Program, was held on December 6, 2024, at MfC headquarters. Project partners spent an intensive day together presenting the project and discussing its actions and expected results. During the meeting the partners introduced themselves to each other and had the opportunity to get to know each other better. The working group discussed project activities to define the best management, training and communication strategies.

 Maendeleo for Children (Italy – Lead partner) Maendeleo for Children (MfC) APS ETS - leader of the N-DSA-N network, has been active since 2014 and carries out socially useful activities aimed at people with even severe fragility, in particular in situations of socio-economic and socio-healthcare hardship (cognitive disability or psychiatric distress), focusing on the right to education and learning, with the aim of building a real and concrete opportunity to choose their own future and for the full realisation of their personality and expectations. MfC works on inclusion of people with neuropathicity, and has implemented almost 40 projects on this topic, 6 of which are European. MfC has developed competences on person-centred approach, creation of inclusive workshops, green skills applied to frail persons, sports and indoor/outdoor activities with therapeutic purposes, work inclusion, culture. Through the EAVPoint active citizenship platform, MfC is able to create communities and aggregate participants around training content on specialised or transversal topics of national and European relevance, in asynchronous mode and also has in-depth experience in project dissemination and communication through its already established digital communication and networking skills applied to national and European stakeholders, amplifying the impact of projects at different levels and activating stakeholders of local, regional and national relevance. The primary target groups are people with neuropathicity: children 0-17, young people 18-35, adults 36-49 and silver over 50 with specificity on silver over 65. MfC's work covers all age groups of people with neuro-atypicality (autism, down syndrome, learning disabilities) or psychiatric distress, on inclusive, training and functional consolidation activities, including family members and caregivers. On training, MfC also specialises in social, sociomedical and sports operators, so learners over 18 involved in the public/private, profit/noprofit sector and experts in supporting people with neuropathy or psychiatric distress.


 Fede in Azione Cooperativa Sociale (Italy) Fede in Azione Cooperativa Sociale (FIA) is a social cooperative - ONLUS - that offers social services to the citizens of Spinaceto and Rome, pursuing the general interests of the community by promoting the social integration of citizens through social, work and artistic activities aimed at the recovery of disadvantaged people. FIA targets people with difficulties in adapting to social life resulting from mental, physical and sensory deficits and who are in physical, mental or social conditions identifiable with states of need and/or marginalization. At its main operational headquarters "Arti & Suoni", FIA also offers the territory a wide range of services in the artistic and cultural sector, proposing educational and recreational activities. The basic approach is to select highly qualified teachers with pedagogical skills who live and work with and for music. The teaching strategy is based on customized educational programs according to the aspirations of each individual student. FIA promotes, organizes and manages events and activities, providing technical assistance to volunteer organizations through planning, technical secretarial work, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.


 Tango por Tres Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica e di Promozione Sociale (Italy) Tango por Tres (or Tango Bar) is another Italian partner and it is the first Argentine tango center in Italy. Founded in 1990, it is the first place in Italy entirely dedicated to Argentine Tango, its diffusion and development. The first stable school where thousands of people have studied and are studying, and where many teachers and dancers have been trained, contributing to the spread of tango. Tango Bar is a special place for those who love to dance, to meet others, to share experiences, where there is space for everyone and where exchange and socialization are encouraged. The tango activity is not only a time for recreation, but an important opportunity to promote social integration and inclusion. It is through tango that people can express themselves, connect with others and overcome social and emotional barriers. Located in Rome, in the heart of Pigneto, Tango Bar is definitely a center dedicated to the teaching and practice of tango, but it is also an artistic and cultural presidium open to different urban realities, a place where it is possible to give life to new, energetic collaborations.

 Društvo za kulturo inkluzije (Slovenia) Društvo za kulturo inkluzije is a non-governmental organisation from Slovenia that has been working on the equal inclusion og people with special needs in society for a decade. The aim and objective of the association is humanitarian work, education and active development of an inclusive culture. Through its activities, it also works to promote a healthy lifestyle and active free time for children, adolescents and adults with special needs. The association also aims to enforce their rights, supporting their development and successful integration into organised forms of education and society in general. The association acquired the status of a disability organisation in 2023.


 Ibonis European Research Projects S.L. (Spain) Ibonis is an active N-DSA-N member and participates in local, national and European projects on research and development of educational and therapeutic tools aimed at Mental Health outreach as well as prevention and early warning in behavioural disorders. Considering the enormous impact of new technologies in Mental Health, the team is also involved in Cyberpsychology. Ibonis works actively in the social and labour inclusion of groups at high risk of social exclusion, such as migrants, elderly people, people with mental illnesses and disabilities. From 2020, all activities are aligned with the goals of the 2030 Agenda and in particular Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13 and 17. The stakeholder network consists of vocational training centres, residences and day care centres focused on assisting people with intellectual disabilities and neurodiversity, as well as centres specialised in assisting people with intellectual disabilities. The organisation, through all the initiatives it carries out, has significant experience in individualised and person-centred support; support for understanding the impact of policies on people's lives; design and implementation of HSC (Health and Social Care) methodologies; creation of the Training of Trainers (ToT) model. The profiles and age groups of the organisation's target groups mainly concern young people and adults. Primarily, reference is made to students from the special employment centre, aged between 16 and 38 with mild or moderate intellectual disability and mental disorders and students with neurodiversity. The second macro group targeted by the association's activities are special vocational students, aged between 16 and 25, with mild or moderate intellectual disabilities and those with neurodiversity. Finally, the association deals with adult training, which includes care assistants and clinical assistants. This is the group with the most heterogeneous age groups, since it involves all adults of working age, from 18 to 65, in training activities.
